Updates: IDS Components

Guidelines | June 2025

Every IDS component—78 in total—now has updated guidance. Refer to the “Guidelines” tab for each component for considerations to help you design and implement it in a way that creates an effective and intuitive user experience.

Each component includes:

• When to use it: The common types of tasks or interactions that it helps users achieve 
• When to use something else: Alternatives to consider 
• Usability guidance: Best practices, with considerations to help you design and implement it in a way that creates an intuitive and effective experience
• UX writing: Standards for capitalization, punctuation, and grammar
• Accessibility: Guidance that helps ensure it remains accessible throughout design and implementation
