OPERATIONS

IDS Jira Project

All IDS enhancement requests and bugs will now be managed from the IDS Jira project. This is an open project for all Inforians, so any issues with the design system can be raised as tickets in that project. Here are some important things to remember when creating a ticket:

  • Identify what team you’re on: It’s not always clear what team everyone is working on, so knowing what product is affected by active issues can help us triage appropriately.
  • Tell us your timeline: Many teams rely on IDS technology for their applications and may be working toward different timelines. Understanding your deadlines will help us prioritize your fix.
  • Provide all implementation details relevant to your application: Not every team uses IDS technology in the same way and to the same ends. Sharing specific details about your usage scenario in your initial request can help accelerate the process.

ADOPTION

Design Tokens

Design tokens are a systematized way to apply and manage design elements—such as color, typography, and spacing—across products. Here’s how application teams can adopt them:

  1. IDS-Emergent: Design tokens are already integrated into the Web Components. This is the best way for teams to leverage the latest IDS styles.
  2. Integration into local styles: Teams can create a basic mapping script to maintain the link between the tokens and their applications.
  3. IDS-Phoenix: Design tokens will be integrated into this refactored version of IDS-Legacy, which will modernize the original IDS component set. (Expected to be available 2H 2025.)
